We have seen weeks of various players battling it out for the team's highest individual score - but last night, Rian returned to the team and put a stop to the contest once and for all. After an insane few weeks of people putting on higher and higher scores, Rian posted the most insane of them all, in a game whose result was rather insane as well...
Popped Collars were up against Take That, who only had 6 players. Most would expect a comfortable win for PC - none would really believe what actually happened.
The Collars fielding was quite below par, with the exception of Sanjit, who became his alter-ego, Steve, after the first batting pair, taking a handful of catches and a rebounding one ball beautifully off his foot for bowler Jim to make a simple run-out.
Take That made 158, a total that would always be hard to defend with only 6 players in the field.
Enter Rian and Gareth to open the batting. More batting records were on the line as they bashed their way to 85 after 3 overs - the same score that Xavier and Julian were at last week when they made their record 115 partnership. They ended up short - making 108 - but there was speculation from the Collars players off-court as to whether Rian had made another a new record individual score for the team.
So when Xavier went out in the third skin, he checked on the score with the umpire. His reaction was "Are you serious?", and the next thing he did was go and tell Rian that his score was "never going to be beaten... ever!".
It was 77.
And while you ponder that utter madness, let me also tell you this: Poppd Collars lost the game. The last three skins failed, and against a team with only 6 players in the field, failed to make the 51 further runs required.

Good times...
