Let's start with the standard and popular stuff. Totals and averages for batting, bowling, fielding, and contribution.
Bowling
After topping the bowling averages for the last two seasons, including a record average of less than 4.5 runs per over last time, Xavier was the big mover in the bowling stats. Down. All the way. Even Julian, the team's self-proclaimed worst bowler, had a better average than Mr.X this season. He can, however, take consolation in the fact that among the semi-regular players, he did rank above Matt.
At the other end of the scale, Rian upped his average and his ranking to take out the top bowler spot. His average of just 3.74 runs per over put him well clear of the pack of regular players. However, it was again a semi-regular player who claimed the extremity of the rankings. Jim played 8 games for the team, and his 16 overs brought him figures of 16/45 - an exquisite average of 2.81 runs per over.
Brad notched up a personal best season with the ball which, combined with his high number of matches played, gave him the most wickets (62) for the season.
Here are the bowling stats for season "Summer 2010/11"
The final column is the players average figures in a match rounded off to whole numbers.
Name | Overs | Wickets | Runs | RPO | Average |
Jim | 16 | 18 | 45 | 2.81 | 2/6 |
Rian | 43 | 50 | 161 | 3.74 | 2/7 |

Brad | 57 | 62 | 301 | 5.28 | 2/11 |
Sanjit | 39 | 38 | 259 | 6.64 | 2/13 |
Jake | 43 | 42 | 317 | 7.37 | 2/15 |
Julian | 49 | 48 | 376 | 7.67 | 2/15 |
Gareth | 37 | 40 | 287 | 7.76 | 2/16 |

Matt | 17 | 10 | 185 | 10.88 | 1/22 |
Batting
In this category also, the old record was broken. Julian's superb 24.40 average last season stood as the best, until two people knocked it off this time. Rian's 25.43 average this season included everything: two negative scores, five scores above 40 in his last 10 innings of the season including that score of 77 which was his only half-century.
But it seems that consistency is the better way to go, because it was Xavier - making up for his disappointing bowling - who topped the averages. His 27 innings included only 3 single-figure scores, and three half-centuries. He also lost less wickets than any of the other regular 8 players despite playing the second most innings.
Following on from that, the other interesting batting stat was this:
Xavier was out an average of 1.19 times per innings. Second best in this category - despite having the lowest average - was Sanjit, with just 1.67 outs per innings.
Here's the batting list.
Name | Innings | Runs | Outs | Average |
Xavier | 27 | 721 | 32 | 26.70 |
Rian | 21 | 534 | 43 | 25.43 |

Fielding
I have finally collated all of my scribbled notes taken while out in the field, and I now present the fielding stats for the season.
First of all, note that run-outs are only ever counted to one person. So a decent throw to the bowler or keeper will give the run-out to the thrower.
The stats show that Xavier had the most catches for the season - but that may be biased in that only games that he played had fielding stats counted. So averages per match is a better measure, in which case Julian takes top place. And probably also tops the "most catches with one hand" category too. Rian is second and Jake third.
The run-out king is unsurprisingly Andy. As the regular keeper, he gets a lot of third-dot balls (and regular balls for that matter) that are missed, or just trickle away off the body. Of the other fielders, Jim and Xavier top the averages, with Brad just a tick behind.
Stumpings for the season were obviously dominated by Andy, but Xavier, Julian, Brad and Rian got at least one each.
Here be the list of totals
Name | Catches | Run-outs | Stump | Total |
Andy | 23 | 30 | 25 | 78 |
Xavier | 31 | 27 | 9 | 67 |
Julian | 30 | 12 | 3 | 45 |
Brad | 18 | 24 | 1 | 43 |
Rian | 24 | 14 | 1 | 39 |
Jake | 21 | 11 | 32 | |
Sanjit | 15 | 9 | 24 | |
Gareth | 9 | 10 | 19 | |
Jim | 1 | 7 | 8 | |
Matt | 3 | 3 | 6 |
And here is the averages per match
Name | Matches | Catches | Run-outs | Stump | Total |
Andy | 26 | 0.88 | 1.15 | 0.96 | 3.00 |
Xavier | 27 | 1.15 | 1.00 | 0.33 | 2.48 |
Julian | 23 | 1.30 | 0.52 | 0.13 | 1.96 |
Rian | 20 | 1.20 | 0.70 | 0.05 | 1.95 |
Brad | 25 | 0.72 | 0.96 | 0.04 | 1.72 |
Jake | 20 | 1.05 | 0.55 | 0 | 1.6 |
Sanjit | 18 | 0.83 | 0.50 | 0 | 1.33 |
Gareth | 16 | 0.56 | 0.63 | 0 | 1.19 |
Jim | 7 | 0.14 | 1.00 | 0 | 1.14 |
Matt | 8 | 0.38 | 0.38 | 0 | 0.75 |
Contribution
It should be obvious from the stats above that Rian was the Popped Collars player of the season. His average contribution was close to 18 - a long way clear of anyone, and even further clear of any regular players.
The team's success this season can be seen through the fact that only one of the regular eight had a negative contribution. And that was Gareth, the least regular of the regulars.
Name | Batting | Bowling | Contribution |
Rian | 25.43 | 7.49 | +17.94 |
Jim | 20.00 | 5.63 | +14.38 |
Xavier | 26.70 | 15.64 | +11.07 |
Andy | 20.91 | 9.93 | +10.98 |
Brad | 19.62 | 10.56 | +9.05 |
Julian | 21.54 | 15.35 | +6.19 |
Jake | 18.38 | 14.74 | +3.64 |
Sanjit | 14.05 | 13.28 | +0.77 |
Gareth | 14.82 | 15.51 | -0.69 |
Matt | 6.33 | 21.76 | -15.43 |
