Along with the recent loss of the National Indoor Cricket Center the Popped Collars suffered another unexpected loss, with one of its great players, Andy Ragg, leaving the team to pursue non-indoor-cricket related opportunities elsewhere.
It was a tremendously sad day; tears were shed, and shoulders were cried up, as we said goodbye to the veteran of 137 games for the Popped Collars (and any number more games for the preceding versions of the team).
Andrew "Teapot" Ragg
Matches: 137

Runs: 2972
Average: 19.05
High Score: 57
Overs: 290
Wickets: 262
Runs conceded: 1906
Best bowling: 8/-27
Average figures (for 2 overs):
1.8 wickets for 13.14 runs
Average contribution: +5.91
Here is a brief list of some of the honours that can be bestowed upon Andy:
Batter of extra innings
He was always willing to put his hand up to go the extra yard, going (or staying) in for a second dig with the bat. He did so an astounding 19 times. Almost double the number of anyone else! Clearly this shows his high work ethic - the willingness to put in the extra time at the crease.
Bowler of wides
He was also willing to go the extra yard away from the stumps when he bowled. He leads the way in number of extra bowled. 397 for the Popped Collars - a tremendous contribution. Hopefully he will return for a cameo appearance one day so that he can break the 400!
Bowler of spin
Unfortunately there is no way to separate out his figures for while bowling pace and spin. But many would agree that the figures would show his leggies doing better than his pace. Ragg had certainly mastered that deep and complex indoor cricket strategy of 'shit gets wickets' with his slow bowling.
#2 Ranked player
...in his family. With an average contribution of +5.91, Andy is second only to Jim, with an average of +8.79.
And finally, his career batting and bowling graphs:
This is not usually a blog where many comments are left, but I encourage you all to leave your tributes to, and memories of, Andy Ragg's days with the Popped Collars.
