The batting quiz - answers and more questions...

For those who played along (i.e. who read) last week's "Stats Quiz" post, I will now provide the answers. If you want to go and have a stab at answering the questions before seeing the answers, go here first. For most answers I give, I will also pose a follow-up question... for those who want to keep testing their knowledge of the team/stats!

And so... here be the solutions:

1. In 257 Popped Collars games, how many many 50s have been scored by our batters?

38.
They have been scored by 9 different players. As a follow up question, can you name those 9 people (I suspect not, but how close can you get?)

2. How many 50s have been scored against us?

5.
I knew it wasn't many, but when I put in my guess of 7, I thought I might be going a bit too low - apparently not. It seems we have enough bowling skill between us to stop anyone making really big scores.
The follow up question here is: how long has it been since someone scored 50 against us?

3. Out of people who have played 50 games or more, who has the highest "lowest career score"?

Matt.
His worst career score is -17. All of our other long-term players have made a score worse than that at least once. Julian comes in next with a career low of -19, then Xavier -20, Gareth -21, Andy -22, Brad -25, Sanj -26 Rian -27, and Jake -29 (which is the worst individual non-"The 9" score).

The follow-up question is one for those who also play outdoor - which player from the AKS cricket team holds the record for lowest score by a one-off Popped Collars player? (i.e. someone who only played one Popped Collars game)
No cheating... I know there is a way to find the answer using an old blog post...

4. What is the most common score for a batter on our team to get?

20.
Our batters have made a score of 20 on 70 occasions. The next most common are 22 (66), 23 (65) and 18 (64). These are higher than I thought it would be. I assumed we would see many score in the teens being most common.
So what is the most common score of opposition batters to make?

5. What percentage of run-outs happen at the bowlers end of the pitch (including innings of both us and our opponents)?

64.7%
About two-thirds of run-outs happen at the bowlers end. As wicket-keeper, I was able to have a pretty good guess at this, knowing how many don't happen at my end.
I don't specifically record which end run-out happen at in the stats, so - because I can't think of a better question - how did I tell which end (most of) the run-outs happened at?

6. In his last 2 innings, Brad has made 45 and 50, for a total of 95 runs. Perhaps he is a chance of breaking one of these records tonight...
...what is the record for most runs over 3 consecutive innings?
...and how about the 4-innings record?

166 and 200.
Brad was nowhere near the record really, requiring 71 to get the 3-innings record. The best ever run of 3 innings was when Rian score 67, 42 and 57 late in 2012 while we were playing the 6-a-side comp at Kaleen. the best 4 innings is the same 3 with a 34 added to the end.

In 8-a-side games, Brad actually holds the record himself in this category - 162 in 3 games (43, 55, 64) and 184 in 4-games (22 + the 3-game record).

7. On the same topic, what is the lowest total over 4 consecutive innings?

Unfortunately, this record was recently broken. Sanjit had a bad run of batting form to finish 2014 and start 2015. He made -10 and 2 to finish 2014, and then -26 and -3 to begin this year. The total of -37 over 4 games easily beats the previous low of -19 (-21, -15, 1, 16) set by Gareth in early 2012.

No further questions, your honour.
