Everyone's s**t batting

In the interest of fairness after our last blog, and with some particularly poor batting performances recently, today we're going to have a look at a bunch of bad batting stats (bowling next week). Normally, we celebrate quality, or are intrigued by the unusual - today, we're laughing at the unfortunate.

A few weeks ago, Popped Collars were comprehensively beaten by a top tier team who were playing their best for most of the game. Our innings included one exceptionally low partnership score, and three individual scores of negative double-figures. There were 3 "worst in career" performances in one game (2 individual scores, one partnership)

Worst in career
First up, here is a list of our regular players with their career lowest scores.

Jim's innings above is a classic that Brad remembers well. It was a semi-final in which we had restricted good opposition to just 107. Xavier and Julian had made a solid 39 for the opening pair, before J.Ragg went out and destroyed all hope of a grand final berth.

There are two games that feature twice in the list. Both Rian and Sanjit made their career lows just a few weeks ago in the punishing loss to Toros. Andy and Xavier also made their PWs (personal worsts) in a single game back in 2011... 5 of us made negative that game, as the team compiled their worst ever score of -31.

Rajit has the honour of making the lowest score in a game that we won. Omar and Matt also made their low-scores in winning games.

The lowest ever score is, of course, by "Rian gets The Nine" - he made -39. There have been 2 opponents make -30s: a non-regular player for the Old Blokes called Dean made a -37, and Bren, from The Boonies, made -30 way back in 2010.

Partnerships
Sanjit and Rajit recently smashed the record for our lowest ever partnership, with an outstanding total of -41. There was already a big gap between first and second (if you ignore "The Nine"), which now means the there are now several real standouts at the top (bottom?) of the list. Here's the lowest ever...

Most wickets lost
Last week's game against the Bilibies we lost 29 wickets, despite making a total score of 89. It certainly felt like an awful lot of wickets, but it is a reasonable way short of being a record. It is equal 5th on our list of 'most wickets lost'. While it was 1 more wicket than the recent Toros game, another game against those same opponents earlier this year saw 30 wickets fall.

Looking at that list, I wondered if it might be some kind of record number of runs scored (before deducting wickets) - but it's nowhere near it... all the records in that category are games where we scored 300+ and lost very few wickets.
