Everyone's s**t bowling

A continuation of last week's blog about everyone's worst performances with the bat. Today, it's the same thing for bowling.

Regular players
Let's get straight into it... here is a list of all our regular players with their worst ever bowling figures for 2 overs in a match (their first two overs bowled if they did additional ones)

Some interesting stats or stories from the above table:
  • Rian's worst included 2 double-score balls which were hit for 7 and 5 (i.e. 14 and 10).
  • Brad's 53 included 6 sevens, including a hat-trick of them off his last 3 balls.
  • Xavier had not-too-bad figures of 0/25 with 4 balls to go before he went 7,0,5,7 to finish.
  • Matt's performance only had 3 balls go for more than two runs. All 3 of them were sevens.
  • Sanjit has the largest difference between figures for his 2 overs. Things could have been much worse after his first over went for a huge 35, but he fought back with 1/6 in his second.
  • Dan's worst figures were in our most recent game, just last week. Gareth declined to comment on that occasion.

Irregular players
But that's only our regular players... the overall record is held by Mr. Ragg Senior (Andy's father) who filled in for GG one day in 2010. He went for the sensational figures of 2/60... that's right, 60 runs even after he took 2 wickets. His two highly eventful overs unfolded as follows:

1st over
1, 5, 1, 4, 7, Stumped, 7, NoBall+5 (doubled and rebowled), dot ball (doubled)

2nd over
2, NoBall+7, 2, NoBall+1+1 (ran an overthrow), 4, 2, Stumped, 4 (doubled)

For the Popped Collars proper team, the regular players hold all the big records (so they are listed in the table above). The worst figures by our subs is jointly held by Gibbo (1/43), and Andrew L. (from Omar's team, 0/43).

Opponents
We have taken 60 runs off an opposition bowler on 5 occasions. The worst ever was by someone called Aaron, from a team called One Hit Wonders at Kaleen in December last year. Those who were there may remember it - this was the game against a team who had 7 players show up (for a 6-a-side game) while we were two players short... so one of their players played for us. And it turned out that he was their best player.

In that game, this Aaron fellow got schooled in his first over mainly by Xavier (2,7,5,14), and in his second over mainly by his own team-mate (2,7,3,7). In all, he came away with record total figures of 0/66.

Another good day was when we took 0/62 off the bowling of Ash, the young umpire guy from Kaleen. Rian, Gareth, Matt and Brad all got stuck into him that day, sharing in the joy of hitting him for 9 back-net shots in his 16 balls.

Total in a match
So far, all the figures have looked at only 2 overs in a match... but what about those unfortunate occasions where someone bowled badly on a day their team were short of players, and were then forced to bowl some more, and cop some additional pain.

The unfortunate holder of the overall record for a match is Matt Solon, who had to bowl 4 overs one day against "the other 4-Skins" (that is, the team at Lyneham who had the same name as the Weston team). In those overs, Matt took no wickets and went for 21, 18, 19 and 24, giving the monstrous total figures of 0/82.
