The Blog Re-read: Part 5

The search for entertaining events and blog posts from the past continues.
As well as leading in to some interesting future activities, this re-reading series is also being used to build up a list of ideas for future blogs. I've added a bunch of new ideas to the blog suggestions page, and I'll keep adding over the next few weeks. Don't forget to keep adding your own ideas there - there more suggestions, the more likely it is that the blogs will continue to be written regularly!

Today, in part five, we are working our way through most of the year 2013, up until the end of our second season at Kaleen.

Rian and Gareth apparently collided with each other trying to take a second run. It's not very interesting, and I don't remember it happening, but I wrote in the blog that I wanted to remember it... so here I am referencing it again. Do either of the batters involved remember it?

The next blog was full of pretty pictures. I now realise this is a major hole in the blog - not enough graphs and lines and illustrations... this is a blog about stats after all!
That same blog contained the "odd or even numbered year" stat - I think that was the second-most pointless stat I've ever done.

I told an amusing story about another team winning a -28 skin.

There were stats about how well pairs and players go when different people face the first ball - which reminds me, I want to make something available one day that tells people "whose turn" it is to face first for those batting pairs who like to alternate.

Also mentioned in that post was how Sanjit almost broke the record for most balls bowled between taking of wickets.

After the farcical scorecard incident, the umpire affectionately known as "Mr. Shit" gave us another classic story, as Brad threatened a walk-off after the Brage-meter overloaded on bad decisions.

A few months later, the captain both scored and conceded 50 runs in a match.

In this post, I told of two matches: one where Gareth and Rian lost count of which over they were up to, and another where Rian and Brad made 80 in the final skin to win the game by 2 runs.

The table showing our most played opponents may need an update... I think Juicy Ham will be creeping towards the top of that list these days!

Finally, season 2 at Kaleen came to an end with a grand final against our rivals at that centre, the Gold Diggers. First I predicted that we would win, and then the prediction came true (and was celebrated with a brilliant team photo).
