Most wickets with a positive score

Stat Of The Week, as requested by Rian. Most wickets lost by a batsman in an innings, while still making a positive score.

While the stats database is not completely up to date, I can give the answer to the question based on what I've got entered at the moment.

Rian claims that his 7 wickets lost tonight, while making a total score of 6, is close to the record. (He also claims that he actually got out 8 times, but I know he didn't... because I've got it on video!)

Summer 2010/11 Season Stats

Another season has come and passed. And what a season it was the the Popped Collars! From a team point of view, the season brought a minor premiership, and a grand final victory - their second title in three seasons. On an individual level, there were records galore - particularly on the batting side of things. With regard to stats, this season saw the introduction of fielding stats (catches taken, run-outs affected, and stumpings made), which will be properly looked at for the first time here.

"The Champions"

"The Champions"
A tribute by B.Lockley & F.Mercury

 I've paid my dues -
Time after time -
I've done my sentence
But committed no crime -
And bad mistakes
I've made a few
I've had my share of sand kicked in my face -
But I've come through
We are the champions - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting - till the end -
We are the champions -
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions - of the Weston Creek Indoor Cricket Centre -

I've taken my bows
And my curtain calls -
You brought me fame and fortune and everything that goes with it -
I thank you all -
But it's been no bed of roses
No pleasure cruise -
I consider it a challenge before the whole human race -
And I ain't gonna lose -

We are the champions - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting - till the end -
We are the champions -
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions - of the Weston Creek Indoor Cricket Centre –

Grand Final Glory

In an absolute thriller of a grand final, it was the Popped Collars who prevailed by 2 runs over ASG to clinch their second premiership from the last three seasons.

Semi Finals, and Fielding Stats

On the bottom left of the main page of the blog is the oft-neglected "Stat of the Week". It currently contains the player performances from this week's big semi-final win. And now, for the first time, is included... the fielding stats. Number of catches and run-outs are featured next to each player (there were no stumpings in the game). I have, since the start of the season, been noting the number of wickets each player has achieved as a fielder, but this is the first time they have made a public appearance.

With only one match to go this season - The Grand Final! - you don't have long to wait until the end-of-season stats which will contain the first major report of players' fielding achievements.

But before that of course, next Monday, April 18, will see the grand final between Popped Collars and ASG. The two teams who have won the previous two competitions go head-to-head. 4Skins, after losing two consecutive minor premierships, and two consecutive grand final losses, failed to make the big game this year.

Biggest Chokes - Batting

After a super effort in the field, and then an opening partnership of 71 from Julian and Xavier, Popped Collars were in a position from which they surely should have stormed home for a comfortable win. But things fell apart. Badly. Rather than the remaining batting pairs putting on the required 35 runs, they instead totaled -1. Was this the biggest ever choke by the Collars?

"The 9"

Last week it was an untouchable high score. This week, it was success in chasing down the fabled and elusive achievement... "The 9". Rian managed to fall victim to every one of the 9 types of wicket that exist in indoor cricket in a tension filled and highly entertaining four overs.

Brad, trust me, it was completely coincidental, and simply a case of some atrocious batting from Rian. There is clearly no need for you to read the rest of the post.

Everyone else, feel free to read on...

Batting Records ...the last laugh

We have seen weeks of various players battling it out for the team's highest individual score - but last night, Rian returned to the team and put a stop to the contest once and for all. After an insane few weeks of people putting on higher and higher scores, Rian posted the most insane of them all, in a game whose result was rather insane as well...

Batting Records ...again

I think it's time I abandoned my attempt at summarising 2010 (it was going to be pretty boring anyway) and instead bring you a series of posts about how Popped Collars batters keep on breaking each others records. Here we go again...

Batting Records Smashed

We interrupt the collection of "2010 summary" posts to bring you this breaking news... Last night saw Popped Collars annihilate Take That and set all manner of batting records along the way.

Calendar Year 2010 - Matches

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are back.

With the matches about to get underway for the new year, it is obviously time to look back at the performances of 2010. This will be a short series of posts looking at whatever topics I feel like looking at regarding the matches of 2010. We begin today with a general look at numbers of matches for the team and the players.
