Time after time

After the debacle of the first game of the year, Popped Collars suffered their second consecutive loss - this time a far more legitimate (though still very close) one. Perhaps it was Rian and Gareth colliding while taking a second run - resulting in a run out - that cost the game (it wasn't, but I just wanted to mention that incident in a blog so we can remember it for years to come). Perhaps it was the fact that we had fill-ins (we haven't lost a game this season with our usual team). Or perhaps it was the time of night (both losses were in 8:30pm games) ... that's a stat to be investigated... let's do it.
Starting with the overall total, the all-time Popped Collars record is currently:

164 games : 112 wins (68.3%)

Breaking that down into general categories of Early, Mid and Late, we see a slight drop in performance for late games, but nothing worthy of too much note; we're still about two-out-of-three matches won for all categories.

Perhaps you could say there is a slight trend towards later games being less successful for us - but before these last two games, our "Late" record was 20/29 (69.0%) - hardly any difference. So it's actually those two matches making out late record look worse, rather than our bad record in late games making it more likely that we would have lost those games. If that makes sense.

What does this all tell us?

That we've played a lot of 6:00 games!

That 6:30 and 7:30 are awesome times for us to play? That is not as relevant as it could be - sure we haven't lost a game at those times, but that's only 6 matches, and all of them have been from this season.

5:30, on the other hand, really is a successful time for us. Most of those 5:30 games are from previous seasons, and we've only lost two games.

Conclusion: Unfortunately, not much. It appears our game time doesn't have much effect on us. Boring, eh? The blog must have used up too much excitement last week, so there wasn't enough left for this time.
