Regular Players
A couple of weeks ago we were talking about how often we have our regular players and how well we do when we have them. Obviously "regular" players have changed over the years, so I've simplified it to count any of the following people as regulars:
Gareth, Sanjit, Xavier, Brad, Andy, Rian, Jake, Matt, Julian, Daniel
To compare 8 and 6 a side games, the results are listed by "number of players missing" rather than "number playing"
Missing Regulars | Matches | Win | Loss | % Win |
Zero | 47 | 31 | 16 | 66.0 |
One | 76 | 59 | 17 | 77.6 |
Two | 37 | 21 | 16 | 56.8 |
Three | 15 | 9 | 6 | 60.0 |
Four | 1 | 1 | 0 | 100 |
Five | 2 | 1 | 1 | 50 |
TOTAL | 178 | 122 | 56 | 68.5 |
Other stat - we've never played more than 3 games in a row with our full regular team.
Low Totals
Last week's game was dominated by bowling/fielding, with two very low team totals. The score was 62-40, for a total of just 102 runs. This was 1 run off being a record lowest match aggregate. And that other game was an eight-a-side game, so would have had 32 overs played, rather than just 24.
In that other game we scored 100, and the opposition made a total of 1. These two low scoring games are certainly stand-outs, with the third lowest ever total being 151.
Other low scoring games almost inevitably involve one team or the other making a negative total.
The list of low-scoring 6-a-side games is dominated by Popped Collars v Underarm - the three lowest total games were all against them (102, 157, 167).
* The original article involved several other tables with accompanying observations and additional stats. But I had to put those tables together by hand (rather than copy/paste), so they haven't been put back in this quick re-write.
